Blochairn Interchange is junction 14 of the M8. Locally this interchange is also known as the Fruit Market junction, after the nearby Blochairn Market complex which is home to the main Fruit and Veg wholesale market in Glasgow. The junction is a half diamond, consisting of a pair of west facing slips connecting the motorway to the unclassified Viewpark Avenue (incorrectly signed in a couple of places as the A804). The offslip from the motorway provides a free flow left turn onto Viewpark Avenue as a lane gain, while the right turn is controlled by traffic lights. The right turn onto the onslip is provided as a give-way turning lane in the central reservation.
Viewpark Avenue at this point appears to have been dug down into a cutting, shared with the railway. The motorway passes overhead on a three span bridge, one for each carriageway of the road, and a wider one for the railway. This creates a rather dingy pair of tunnels for the road, with the M8 being five lanes wide in each direction overhead. The road is effectively D1 as it passes under the motorway, with the turning lane in addition, and then widens to D2+1 with the lane gain to the north. the central reservation is soon lost, but the second northbound lane continues to a roundabout.
