The A1102 was allocated to the original Lincoln northern bypass. It was an upgrade of the B1193 and then a new-build road to the east.
Starting on the A57 Newland the road headed north along The Avenue and Yarborough Road to cross the then-A15 Newport. This marks the end of the former B1193. The A1102 then continued east along Longdales Road and then Ruskin Avenue to end on the A157 (now A15) Wragby Road. As well as avoiding the city centre, the new-build section provided access to the then-new Wragby Road Estate.
Today the route has been downgraded to a B road following the construction of the A46 Lincoln Bypass. The majority is the B1273 but Ruskin Road is the B1182.
