The A934 runs inland from the Angus coastal town of Montrose. Although none of the A roads in Angus are particularly exciting, this must be the most uneventful of all, without hill, bend or village to enliven the journey.
The route actually starts on the A92 at a sharp fork in the Rossie Mills area a little to the west of Montrose proper. The junction has been realigned to improve visibility, but is still a sharp turn for the few vehicles needing to double back. The route then heads west a little above the southern edge of the vast tidal Montrose Basin. Before long, the basin gives way to the vast flat floodplain of the River South Esk, with the road skirting the edge of the low hills that rise to Rossie Moor to the south. Despite this, the road remains more-or-less flat although there is a net gain in altitude over its full length. Scattered houses and farms are dotted along the roadside, but nothing resembling a village as it winds westwards across the fields, passing occasional patches of woodland.
Further west, the slope to the south becomes less steep and the road turns slightly southwards, gaining a little more height as it does so. Curving back towards the west, the road crosses an old railway line - the old double bend has been ironed out - and soon after it reaches the partly wooded Montreathmont Moor. Here it ends and ends at a staggered crossroads on the A933, with the B9113 continuing west into Forfar.
