The B33 starts at St John near Jersey's north coast and heads west. The precise start point is not entirely clear. It probably starts at the point where the A10 and A9 meet near the middle of the village, but it seems that one of these routes may have been extended slightly westwards to the edge of the village to better serve the quarry which is accessed via the C101. Either way, the B33 runs west, slowly diverging from the coast as it heads for St Mary's. The road is nominally S2, but in many places it is too narrow for a centre line, so traffic has to give way in the wider bits. At St Mary's, the road TOTSOs with the B40, which continues west, the B33 turning south to meet the B53.
