The B7065 is Scotland's second most southerly B road as it runs along the southern end of the Rhins of Galloway. The route was originally unclassified but gained its number in the mid-1930s.
The route starts at a fork junction on the A716 near Balgowan, a mile or so south of Ardwell, and cuts across the peninsula, heading south west across fields. The roadside is lined with trees and high hedges, as it climbs a little to pass between low hills. After passing a large farm, the western coast appears ahead, and the route soon drops to the shore at Port Logan Bay. It curves around the back of the beach to the village, a pretty row of whitewashed houses stretching round the south end of the bay to a car park. However, the village mostly lies off the B7065, which TOTSOs left as it turns inland between the first houses. Climbing steadily up Inchmulloch Hill, the road wiggles up the contours, including a sharp bend before reaching a summit of 94m just below the hilltop. After curving southwards round the hill, the route drops even more steeply into the narrow valley of the Pulwhinrick Burn.
There is a skewed crossroads just before the route crosses the burn, with the minor road using the valley to almost cross from coast to coast. The B7065 is soon climbing again, winding past the farms at Currochtrie and into the tiny village of Kirkmaiden. A cemetery sits above the road at the entrance to the village, and offers some stunning views north across Luce Bay. After passing between the old stone houses of this small village, the route meanders southwards for another mile to its end at a simple T junction on the B7041 at Damnaglaur, about three miles north of Scotland's most southerly point at the Mull of Galloway.
