The B7028 was a short link road through Chapelhall in north Lanarkshire. It started on the A73 and headed south west along Lauchope Street and Woodhall Street, passing through the centre of the small town which is now almost just a suburb of Airdrie. After passing through Chapelhall, it crossed fields to reach the A8, which was originally crossed at a flat crossroads. The B7028 ended a short distance later at a T junction with the B799.
The route was originally unclassified, but gained its number between 1927 and 1932, probably as a result of the construction of the new Edinburgh to Glasgow Road, which soon became the A8. The A8 was then dualled in the early 1960s and a GSJ replaced the previous at grade crossroads on both the B7028 and B799. This new junction was sited roughly where the B799 had previously crossed, leaving the B7028 to cross on an overbridge, except it didn't, because at the same time the B799 was diverted through Chapelhall along the former route of the B7028, and the B802 extended south from Airdrie to the new junction. Much more recently, in 2017, the B799 was diverted again, onto the previously unclassified southern distributor road around Chapelhall, meaning that most of the former B7028 is now unclassified, only a short section within the M8 Chapelhall Junction remaining, although even this has been so substantially rebuilt that none of the original road really survives.
