The B7069 is a short link road in Whitburn, West Lothian.
Entering Whitburn from the west along the B7069
The route starts at a roundabout on the B7066, from where an unclassified road heads north to M8J4A. The B7069 heads south briefly then TOTSOs left onto West Main Street to enter Whitburn. This road, which is dead-straight and largely residential at first, is followed for the rest of the route. As the route approaches the town centre, shops and businesses take over from housing, but the route soon ends at the signalised Whitburn Crossroads on the A706. The road ahead is still the A705.
History
The route of the B7069 was originally part of the A705 but was downgraded together with the A8 (present B7066) to the west after the M8 was built in the late 1960s. The 1971 OS 1:25,000 map curiously labels the route as the B7067. It is not clear if this is an error or not. It also shows that the route originally extended further west to the original fork junction between the old A8 and A705. The current TOTSO was introduced by 1974, however, while the roundabout was built when the new motorway junction, Heartlands Interchange was built in the 2010s.
