Junctions related to the A9119 | |||
Queens Road Roundabout is the junction between the dualled A92 and A9119 in western Aberdeen. It is a simple four armed junction, with the A92 running roughly north-south on Anderson Drive and the A9119 crossing on Queens Road. The southern and western approaches each have three lanes for turning traffic, while the northern and eastern arms only have two. The central island is relatively small, leaving room for two or three circulatory lanes. The roundabout has been built at a former crossroads, with only a very small amount of additional land take apparently required from the surrounding properties. This is most noticeable on the northern side of the junction, with the central island slightly offset from the centre line of the A9119.
Until 2018, the roundabout was the junction of the A90 and the B9119. However, with the opening of the AWPR, the A90 was moved west onto the bypass, and the A92 extended over its former route around Aberdeen. Then, in 2020, following a review of their classified road network, Aberdeen City Council decided to upgrade the B9119 to be an A road, and chose the A9119 number as a quick and easy solution.
