Of the four B-roads in Dorchester, the B3144 is the shortest. The eastern end is also part of the A352's former route through the town.
We start at the roundabout with the A352 just after its junction with the A35 bypass, and proceed to go over the bypass headed into town. This bridge seems to form part of an incomplete GSJ, the other half of which turns off to the right at the next roundabout (but doesn't meet the A35). Continuing north-ish along Allington Road, we reach a mini-roundabout, where the B3143 continues ahead and our road turns left along Prince of Wales Road; this marks the original eastern end of the B3144.
We skirt around the south of Dorchester before reaching Weymouth Avenue. Here, we have to give way to the unclassified road (although in fairness this was the A354 at one time), doglegging left with two TOTSOs into Great Western Road. After crossing the B3147 at a crossroads, we cross the railway and continue westwards to Bridport Road, the B3150 and our terminus just short of the Poundbury development.
