For the former B3137 in Wells, see B3137 (Wells).
The B3137 is a fairly long B-road in mid-Devon. It was originally part of the A373 and did not gain its present number until the road was essentially bypassed by the new A361 in the 1980s. Despite the road's former importance it is no longer recommended as a through route.
Starting at a mini-roundabout on the A3126 in Tiverton, the B3137 follows Leat Street before TOTSOing left onto Longdrag Hill, which climbs out of the town. The route then becomes a typically undulating Devonian road before passing Withlea and descending into the valley of the River Dart (this is not the more famous river of the same name further south but rather a tributary of the River Exe).
We follow the Dart upstream, crossing it en route, before climbing out of the valley to the west up Cruwys Morchard Hill; Cruwys [pronounced "cruise"] Morchard itself lies off the road to the south. The B3137 continues through Nomansland before meeting the B3042 at a triangular junction just to the south of Witheridge. Our route runs along Fore Street through the village centre.
After re-entering open country we cross the River Little Dart (a tributary of the Taw) and then continue our undulating course for a few more miles before passing through Meshaw and descending into the valley of the Little Silver Stream. We follow this watercourse downstream to where it flows into the River Mole at Alswear and then follow that river upstream to reach South Molton. Moving away from the river, we enter town along New Road and the route ends at a T-junction on the B3227 East Street.
