For the former B3158 along King Street in Weymouth, see B3158 (Weymouth Station).
The B3158 is a recent creation in the western part of Weymouth. From the Wessex Roundabout, it runs south along the former B3157 spur of Radipole Lane in Charlestown.
When originally classified the road turned right onto Chickerell Road (the present B3154) at a light-controlled junction and then terminated on the B3156. However, following the opening of the Weymouth Relief Road, and the creation of a new B3154, the B3158 was rerouted to cross Chickerell Road and now follows Benville Road to meet the B3156 a little further south.
The route was created in its current form when the B3157 bypass opened in 2008. However, the number has been recycled from that of a 1922 route which served Weymouth railway station.
