Route
The B3156 is a suburban road in the western area of Weymouth.
It starts on the A354 at a roundabout in Wyke Regis, where all signage with the road number has been patched to try and keep long distance traffic to Bridport on the A354 and A35.
A short while later the numbering on signage returns at a TOTSO with Wyke Road. We then meet another TOTSO at the junction with the B3154 at a light controlled junction, before heading along the former B3157 Chickerell Road to another light controlled junction where the B3156 terminates at the new B3157 bypass.
History
On classification in 1922 the southern section of the road (as far north as today's B3154) was numbered B3155 whilst the remainder was part of the B3157. The whole road then gained the latter number in 1935.
In the 2000s, as part of the construction of the Weymouth Relief Road, the B3157 was given its current route and the B3156 came into being as part of the road vacated.
