The B6414 is a local route to the east of Edinburgh. It was originally unclassified but had gained its number by 1932.
The road starts at a roundabout on the A6094 on the northern side of Dalkeith and heads east past Sainsbury's before having to TOTSO left at traffic lights. It continues northeastwards over the A68 bypass without a junction. In Crossgatehall it meets the A6124 at a staggered crossing controlled by traffic lights, where both roads share a bridge over a disused railway cutting.
We continue northeast then bear left in Elphinstone and presently reach Tranent. On the western side of town a mini-roundabout is reached where traffic is advised to bear left, quickly ending at traffic lights on the A199 (the old A1). The right turn at the mini-roundabout is the original B6414 - and still retains the number - ending closer to the town centre but at a T-junction.
