This article is about the current B1408 in Essex.

For the original B1408 in East Lothian, see B1408 (East Lothian).
The B1408 runs for a short distance along the original route of the A12 between Marks Tey and Stanway in Essex.
The route starts on the eastern edge of Marks Tey at junction 25 of the A12, where it also meets the A120. From this point it heads east through the eastern part of the village, after which there is a brief rural section before we enter Copford, with a run of modern housing before we reach the old village centre. Copford then merges into Stanway and the B1408 then crosses a roundabout which serves a retail park before ending at the next roundabout, which is a junction with the A1124. The forward road is the now unclassified ex-A12 leading into the centre of Colchester.
