The B6303 is described in the 1922 Road Lists as Loop at Allendale. It connects the B6295 with itself at Allendale Town, allowing through traffic an easier route than the B6295, which has hills, bends, TOTSOs and river crossings. Indeed, our road is signed as the through route.
The road starts at a TOTSO to the south of Catton and heads along a straight road southeastwards before bending to the left to cross a small valley and enter Allendale Town. The road now heads southwestwards through the village to reach the Market Place. It ends here, back on the B6295, where that road has to TOTSO again.
