The B6381 follows Barkerend road into Bradford city centre from the east. It provides the direct line for the A647, but that road has always followed its current route.
Curiously, the high number of the B6381 shows it wasn't allocated in 1922. However, the first MOT map does show a B road following Barkerend Road from the B6148 into the city centre; frustratingly, it is unnumbered, and there are no locally missing numbers either. It is therefore perhaps a mapping error, especially as it does not reappear on later maps until the 1940s.
More recently, the inner section of the B6381 has been reclassified, with the last bit down Church Bank now unclassified, and the previous section of Barkerend Road to the inner ring road being part of the realigned A658.
