The B6322 runs through the small town of Consett in Durham. The route does not feature in the 1922 Road Lists, but it had been classified by 1932.
A change to the northern end of the B6322 is that today it turns north off Park Road to reach its terminus on the A691 Durham Road via Laburnum Grove (formerly known as Siemens Street / Cemetery Road). Originally it continued for a further 300 m west, as far as the end of Park Road, before turning right to reach Durham Road by way of Derwent Street. The alteration appears to have been made in the 1980s.
