The A6049 was a short link road in Oldham town centre called George Street. The road started on the A62 in the Market Square and headed roughly southwards to end on the A627 King Street.
The northern end of George Street has now been destroyed under the Town Square shopping centre although the southern half of the road still exists. It is not surprising that the A6049 number is now redundant.
