The number A6028 was originally assigned to a road in south Yorkshire.
After the A640 had come down from Scammonden Moor, the A6028 turned off near Outlane and headed in a northeasterly direction. It crossed the A629 at Ainley Top and then ran through Rastrick before ending on the original line of the A643 in Brighouse town centre.
In 1935, the western end of the A643 was moved from Elland to Outlane, taking over the entire length of the A6028, making that number redundant.
