For the original A6030 in Wakefield, see A6030 (Wakefield).
The A6030 forms part of the primary Leicester Outer Ring Road.
Starting in Stoneygate, to the southeast of Leicester city centre, the A6030 leaves the A6 at traffic lights signed Ring Road and Leicester East. It heads east along Stoughton Road to meet the B582 at Gartree Roundabout. Here the road turns left and heads north along Stoughton Drive, with a golf course on its right.
The road becomes fully residential again as it passes through the eastern suburbs. There's a brief dual section as we run along a tree-lined avenue. This ends at traffic lights but the alignment remains wide enough to be dual as to the left of the road there is either a service road or a wide expanse of grass.
At traffic lights with the A47 we leave the ring road, which turns right along that road, and run within it as we continues north. The road is D1 as it follows a gentle curve to the left then TOTSOs right at traffic lights onto Victoria Road East. When the road first came into being in the 1960s it took over the old route of the B6416 west along Gypsy Lane and Checketts Road, ending on the then-A6 Loughborough Road. However, this is now unclassified and so the road continues northeastwards past another golf course before ending back on the ring road, at a signalised roundabout on the A563.
