The B4179 is an urban road in the Black Country, located southwest of Dudley.
It originally started on the B4172 in Quarry Bank but the section between there and the A461 in Brierley Hill was (along with most of the B4172) upgraded to become the A4100 in April 1925.
The current southern end of the B4179 is on the A461 Brierley Hill relief road, although exactly where is debatable. Some maps claim Dudley Road is the route (although this road is a bus gate) and others Level Street (although road signs claim that only leads to the B4179). What is certain is that the B4179 heads north-west along Bank Street from the traffic lights at the north end of the High Street.
At the end of Bank Street we meet the B4180 coming in from the right at traffic lights and joining our route briefly for the crossing of the former Oxford, Worcester and Wolverhampton railway line. At the far side of the bridge the B4180 sets off again to the left and we follow Pensnett Road and Commonside to reach our terminus: a T-junction on the A4101 Pensnett High Street.
