The second road to be numbered B4122 is a short road north of Chippenham. The road was unclassified for many years but gained its number around 1990.
The road starts at M4 J17 and heads east along a similar route to the motorway. This first stretch of road was built when the old road to Stanton St Quintin was severed with the construction of the M4; the old road is soon met but the join is not easy to see.
Now heading south, the B4122 descends to cross a stream before ending at a T-junction on the B4069.
