The original B4184 was located in the small Black Country town of Lye, situated between Dudley and Stourbridge in Worcestershire. It ran along Chapel Street, cutting off the corner between the town's two A-roads.
The road's B-road status lasted into at least the 1960s but it is now unclassified, with the central section closed to traffic.
The road however retains its large concrete street light columns reflecting its former status a classified road
