This article is about the second B5196 in Cheshire.

For the original B5196 in Lancashire, see B5196 (Lancashire).
Originally unclassified, a short link road to the north of Sandbach town centre was classified in the late 1920s and given the B5196 number, which had recently been vacated when the original incarnation of that number had been upgraded to Class I status.
The road started to the northeast of the town centre on the A534 Congleton Road and headed into the centre of town along Offley Road and Bradwall Road, ending on Hightown, which was a short multiplex of the A533 and A534.
The B5196 existed until the 1980s and the construction of the Sandbach bypass. A-road traffic through Sandbach was rerouted onto this and the B5196 was declassified as it no longer had any classified roads to connect to.
