The B5198 is a short link road near Huyton. Although it is marked on most maps its existence is disputed, as described below.
The road starts at a complicated traffic-light-controlled junction on the A57 Liverpool Road in Fincham and then heads vaguely northerly along Stockbridge Lane.
After crossing a small stream the B5198 appears to end. The road ahead is signed as no entry (except for buses and taxis) whereas the road to the right (along the original line of the B5198) is a dead end, having been severed by the A526. The official line of the B5198 runs along the restricted road before having to TOTSO right to reach a roundabout on the A526, where the slip roads from M57 J3 end.
This is now the end of the B5198 but originally it continued along the road ahead to reach the B5194. This is now indisputably a spur of the B5194, even if it is debatable whether the rest of the B5198 still exists.
