Route
The B5190 is a short link road in the Lancashire town of Bootle.
Theoretically it starts on the A5058 Balliol Road and heads north along Oriel Road past the Town Hall. "Theoretically" because this first section is pedestrianised. Some maps acknowledge this by having the B5190 start one block further north, on an unclassified road, but others still allow it to meet Balliol Road.
At its junction with Trinity Road the B5190 becomes open to traffic. It continues north past Oriel Road station to end at a T-junction at the end of the road, on the A5057 Merton Road.
History
Pedestrianising the southern end of Oriel Road is not the first change to the route of the B5190. Originally the road started on the A5036 Regent Road and headed east along Miller's Bridge, then north along Oriel Road, then east again along Merton Road to end on the A564 Stanley Road. Owing to the short length of the road it is not easy to determine when the road was truncated - but the two east-west sections of the original B5190 have since been upgraded to Class I status.
