This article is about the original B5170 in Lancashire.
For the later B5170 in Staffordshire, see B5170 (Lichfield).
For the later B5170 in Staffordshire, see B5170 (Lichfield).
The B5170 was a largely rural B-road in south Lancashire.
It started on the A562 at Hale Bank, to the west of Widnes and headed west close to the bank of the River Mersey. It went through Hale and Speke before ending end-on with the A561 in Garston.
The road was rerouted slightly when the original runway of Speke Airport (to the west of Speke Hall Avenue) was built on top of it.
The B5170 survived until the 1960s but is now largely unclassified, having been taken over by the A561 west of Speke and bypassed by that road to the east.
