Penn Road Island is a junction at the southwestern corner of the Wolverhampton Inner Ring Road, and is the primary access route into the city centre from A449 and Kidderminster, as well as access to M5 via junctions 4 and 6.
It was the earliest roundabout junction constructed on the Inner Ring Road, and has provision for grade-separation for traffic along A4150. The sunken area in the centre of the roundabout is used both as a pedestrian crossing, and contains formal gardens and a skate park.
The junction was the subject of a £2m improvement in 2010, which has seen changes to the direct access from A4150 westbound to A449 southbound. Further improvements, including the removal of the skate park, are planned.
