In the original 1922 road numbering, A3044 was allocated to Link in Tavistock in Devon, whilst the draft notes give the detail of Plymouth Road - Ford Street, near Gasworks.
At about 90 yards (83 m) long, this must be a contender for the shortest A road. The 6-figure grid reference for each end is the same.
It is not known when the number ceased to exist but, with the declassification of Ford Street, the road is now part of the A390.
