The former A3087 now runs adjacent to the current A36
The A3087 was a shortcut between the A36 and the A30 to the east of Salisbury City Centre.
Starting on the A36 Tollgate Road, it headed north along Rampart Road, ending after less than a quarter of a mile on the A30 Winchester Street.
The road was unclassified in the original 1922 allocation but gained the A3087 number in the early 1930s. Today the road is again unclassified, though the modern A36 Churchill Way runs immediately to the west of Rampart Road and has destroyed the buildings on that side of the road. The original junction with the A36 still exists whilst the junction with the A30 has been replaced by an underpass.
