The A3028 is a short link road on the edge of Salisbury Plain, cutting off the corner between the A345 and A303.
The A3028 starts on the A345 (former A338) at a roundabout on the edge of Durrington. It heads east, crossing the Avon and goes through Bulford. The unclassified road heading south from the crossroads in the centre of the village leads to a GSJ with the A303 and then the village of Amesbury.
From this point on, the road name is the bizarre Double Hedges. About a mile after Bulford the A3028 reaches a crossroads where the minor road it crosses has priority (although this is the road from the A303 to Bulford Camp). The road straight on does not look like an A-road at all. A blue sign informs drivers that they cannot turn right on the A303 ahead (they can't if they head south either) and from this point on the A3028 looks like a country lane, not wide enough for vehicles to pass. However, it would not need to - although there is no sign making the road one-way, it may as well be. It soon reaches the A303 (former A344) where traffic must turn left - and no-entry signs stop traffic leaving the A303. The last junction, that with the Bulford Camp link road, was where traffic should have left the A303 - and even this is only for eastbound traffic.
