The A44 is a very short link between 3 A roads in the centre of Douglas.
The route follows Ridgeway Street, and is one way throughout, with the direction of travel being away from the A1 and towards the A42, 100 yards to the north, or the A8, 80 yards to the south. It's a fairly narrow road with one lane along the centre and parking on both sides, except where there is a bus stop south of the Market Hall. The Market Hall (on the northern section) has steps that jut out into the road, removing the parking on the left hand side in the area around them.
