The original B33 was a short route to the west of Douglas. It started at a T junction on the A5 and headed north along Saddle Road, dropping down between the two churches at Braddan to end on the A1 at Braddan Bridge. The route was first classified in about 1930 and route was renumbered as the B27 before 1963, although the northern end at Braddan Kirk is now part of the A6, which has been extended to form a sort of ring road around Douglas.
The Manx Government Circular 1814 of 17/08/1937 defines this route as: Saddle Road, Braddan
