The B80 is a long dead end stretching south along the coast from Douglas. It starts at a mini roundabout on the A41, South Quay, and climbs steeply up Fort Anne Road, past a series of brightly painted terraces, and the Douglas Head Road to find the top of Douglas Head Gardens. There is a large turning area below the castellated former hotel above the road, and plenty of space for parking nearby. The gardens are home to the Camera Obscura, and a path also leads down to the shore by the lighthouse.
The B80 then squeezes behind a building and turns south along the cliffs. This is the Marine Drive, a route built by the Victorians and operated as a tramway for many years before being converted into a road in the 1950s, which subsequently carried the A37 number. Landslips in the 1970s caused part of the road to be closed to traffic, although it remains open to pedestrians, and the northern section has since been renumbered as the B80. For more information see the Marine Drive page.
