The B1258 is a short B-road across the Vale of Pickering.
It starts on the A64 in West Knapton, a few miles east of Malton. The A64 has been straightened at this point and the original line of the road can still be seen.
The B1258 heads north to cross the York-Scarborough railway line at a level crossing. The now-closed Knapton station was here and the station house can still be seen on the right of the road. The B1258 now heads northeast into Yedingham where it crosses the River Derwent. It meets the B1415 a few miles later on the southern edge of Ebberston.
Originally the B1258 ended here as this road was the A170. However, that road was rerouted north onto a previously unclassified road in the 1920s and so the B1258 was extended east along what was the A170 to Snainton, where it ends on the current line of that road.
