The B1270 is described in the 1922 Road Lists as Middlesborough (High St, Kings Road). In reality the road was in North Ormesby, to the east of the centre of Middlesbrough.
Road upgrades in Teesside have rendered the B1270 defunct. The A171, which it met at its southern end, now runs to the east and the old route is unclassified; the A175, which it met at its northern end, has been replaced by the current A66 and so has been altered beyond recognition. At the northern end of King's Road, the B1270 crossed the Market Place, which still exists although the road across it does not, before following the High Street; no trace remains of this, not even its alignment.
