In the days when Durham was liberally sprinkled with classified roads, the B1282 ran along Elvet Hill Road in the south of the city.
The road started on the then-A1051 Quarryheads Lane where there is now a roundabout. It went up a short section of Potters Bank before bearing left and going along the entire length of Elvet Hill Road to end on South Road, then the A1050, now the A177.
Looking at this route, it seems uncertain why the B1282 was ever given this number and therefore explains why the road is now unclassified.
