The B1238 is a largely rural B-road in the East Riding.
It starts just inside the Hull city boundary on the A165. It then heads east out of Hull and through Bilton before zigzagging through Sproatley. Although this section does look rural on a map, in reality the road is lined with buildings throughout this section.
Leaving Sproatley and entering open country, the B1238 continues to zigzag as it passes through Flinton. Finally it reaches Aldbrough, where it ends on the B1242.
The route of the B1238 is unchanged from its foundation in 1922.
