The B6143 is a largely urban B-road to the southwest of Keighley.
The route starts at a roundabout on the A629 in Keighley town centre and heads west along the western half of the High Street before bearing left onto Oakworth Road.
It continues southwestwards through the suburbs of Keighley, descending as it does so. It goes through Bogthorn and starts to climb again before reaching Oakworth. At no point on the road does it really enter open country.
The road goes through the centre of Oakworth before bearing to the left in the Lane End area of town. It ends on an unclassified road at the junction with Mill Lane. Originally the road continued ahead to end on the B6142 Tim Lane. It kept this western end even after Tim Lane was declassified in the late 1920s but was truncated more recently.
