The C137 starts on the A71 at Quarryhill just west of Strathaven and heads northwest, curving west past Brackenridge before dropping down to the banks of the Calder Water. This little river is crossed at the East Browncastle Bridge, and the road continues to meander, south west now, as it climbs past Hairshaw to reach the council boundary just across the summit. The road continues to eventually rejoin the A71 at Darvel.
