The C156 starts on the A724, Hamilton Road towards the centre of Cambuslang and heads south, immediately crossing the railway, before climbing Croft Road. It then doglegs west to find Cairns Road, which winds south east past Cambuslang Park and on to Gilbertfield Road which follows the edge of the urban area. At length this comes to an end on the C155 at Flemington.
