The C29 is a long and meandering route in the upper Clyde Valley. It starts on the C30 at Carstairs Junction and heads south, almost immediately crossing the Clyde, before climbing up the hill to Pettinain. After curving round the valley, it passes between the hills to Covington, continuing south, and dropping back down to the banks of the Clyde at Thankerton Bridge. Without crossing the river, the route turns into the village and ends on the C28.
