The C146 starts at a roundabout on the A727 at Peel, opposite the B766, and heads south on Peel Road into Thorntonhall. After passing through the village, the road curves round to the south east and passes under the A726 to enter East Kilbride. It ends on the B764 in the Hairmyres area of the town.
