For other roads numbered C8, see C8.
The C8 is now a route of two parts, the middle section having been closed up. The route starts on the B7078, Carlisle Road, in Blackwood and follows Vere Road as it curves round to cross the B7086, Strathaven Road. Vere Road then continues south, bridging the offslip and then the M74, but it is not clear if this section is still part of the C8. There is a single property south of the motorway, but despite the road being S2, with the remnants of a white line down the middle, it is now a dead end, blocked up with earth banks. Considering the relatively recent expense of installing the bridges over the motorway, this seems a strange thing to have done.
The other part of the C8 resumes a short distance south, where the C9, Lesmahagow Road turns right into Strathaven Road. A blocked up left turn leads to a footpath along the abandoned road. The C8 then follows Strathaven Road as it continues south east into Lesmahagow, before turning sharp left down School Road to meet the C13, Milton.
