For other roads numbered C8, see C8.
The C8 is a busy suburban route forming a lengthy loop to the south east of Bath city centre, and serving the University at Claverton Down. It starts at Widcombe Parade, on the A3062 and heads east, climbing steeply up the picturesque Widcombe Hill to Claverton Down. Here the route appears to include the triangle of Copseland and Oakley, which connect to the C10, Bathwick Hill. This is the main Bus Route up to the university, as the roads are generally much wider than Widcombe Hill.
The mainline of the C7 continues along Claverton Down Road, passing the main entrance to the University, and curving round through fields and parkland to meet the C9, Brassknocker Hill, another busy route which drops steeply down to meet the A36. Heading westwards now, the C8 passes more playing fields and along the southern edge of Prior Park, becoming North Road shortly before it comes to an end, back on the A3062, at the roundabout at the top of Ralph Allen Drive.
