The C14 comprises a series of streets in Bath city centre, which, when combined with the city's A roads, form a vague one-way loop around the main shopping area. We shall start, however, on the east side of the city with the two-way Henry Street. This formerly continued west along New Orchard Street into Lower Borough Walls, but the redevelopment of Southgate has seen New Orchard Street pedestrianised, so Henry Street is now a dead end serving the surrounding maze of streets and service yards. Lower Borough Walls is now one-way towards New Orchard Street, traffic then being turned north up Stall Street, on of Bath's busier shopping streets.
The main part of the route starts on Corn Street, part of the A367 one-way system to the south of the city centre. It then runs north west along St James Parade, briefly using James Street West before turning right onto Westgate Buildings. This is now a one-way street, which continues past Kingsmead Square and along Monmouth Street to meet the A367 once more at Charles Street.
After following the A4 through Queen Square, the C14 resumes, following Milsom Street south past some of Bath's more upmarket shops and then curving round onto New Bond Street, to rejoin the A3039, Northgate Street near the infamous Bus Gate. The bus gate only blocks northbound traffic, so the loop can be completed by turning right along the A3039 back to the start.
