The A731 was a short route in Glasgow's East End. It started at Bridgeton Cross, where it met the A74 and A732, and headed south along Main Street to Rutherglen Bridge. The southern end of Main Street is now marked by a line of trees across the grassy riverbank, but the remainder is still open to traffic. The A731 then crossed the bridge, which is now part of the A728, and kinked left onto Shawfield Road / Glasgow Road, passing behind the Greyhound Stadium. It came to an end on the A730 a short distance later. Apart from the bridge, the route is now entirely unclassified, although the A731 survived until at least 1976.
The 1922 MOT Road List defines this route as: Glasgow (Main Street and Shawfield Road)
