For the present B761 located in East Kilbride, see B761.
The original B761 was a very short link road to the east of Glasgow, acting to cut the corner between the A732 (now the A74) and the B760. Its short length and urban environment conspire to make it difficult to ascertain exactly when the route was downgraded, though it does appear that the route was downgraded before World War II, and it seems quite plausible that it ceased to exist when the adjacent B760 was upgraded to be come the A763. The postwar OS Seventh Series map shows the road in white, suggesting it was no longer in use for through traffic, and it is not numbered on the OS Six Inch Sheet from 1947, which was surveyed pre-war.
Today, the road itself no longer exists as the M74 has severed its route. The probable alignment can be picked up on London Road opposite a filling station, where a gated stub can be found between Clyde Gateway East business park and Auchenshuggle Wood. The route then probably ran along the edge of the woods to meet the B760 somewhere under the industrial estate just south of the M74 westbound onslip. The B760 originally followed an older alignment of Fullarton Road, which met London Road at a crossroads opposite Causewayside Street.
