The B1144 links the A148 to itself by bypassing King's Lynn town centre.
The southern end has been moved slightly (it used to go along Guanock Terrace) to meet a roundabout (Southgates Roundabout) but the road is essentially the same as in 1922. The road zigzags vaguely northwards through the suburbs. It passes a recreation ground on the left and then crosses the railway line at a level crossing; there are actually two lines here: the near one runs to the station and the far one is a freight-only siding. Continuing north the road passes the College of West Anglia before ending at traffic lights.
