The B6288 is a short B-road in central Durham.
The road starts in the west of the village of Kirk Merrington, at the northern of two TOTSOs in quick succession on the B6287. We head north through North Close to reach a roundabout providing access to an industrial estate. A short distance further on another roundabout is reached, where the B6288 crosses the A688.
Construction of the A688 altered the course of the B6288 somewhat. The road originally ran along Front Street and Coulson Street before meeting the B6290 and running along Half Moon Lane to end on the B6291 North Road. This is now unclassified and the road runs along the ex-B6290 through the suburbs of Spennymoor to Tudhoe and then along the ex-A6074 Front Street back into open country to end at a roundabout on the A167 (former A1).
